Day 1 of Halloween Projects: Skeleton Doughnut Men

Welcome to Day 1 of the 31 Days of Horror! I am so glad you decided to join me and I am super excited to start sharing some great Halloween projects and ideas with you all. Today's project is the first place award for the costume contest for our Halloween party this year.  (I also have a giveaway for today listed at the bottom of this post as well)

So the first project I have for you are these great Skeleton Doughnut Men.

The skeletons on these were cut from the Paper Doll Dress Up Cartridge. (On the Gypsy, I cut the skeleton as tall as he could be on a 12x12 mat)  Once I cut them, I then cut the ribs out of the center and glued the two pieces to a piece of black cardstock.
Next, I used a black pen to make all of the details on the skeleton.
Next, I hand cut around the skeleton so that he would have a black background and outline.  This is kind of a pain, but there isn't a black out or shadow feature for this cut.

Now, I hot glued these guys to the packages of doughnuts.  This won't affect your doughnuts, because it will be on the outside of the plastic.  The doughnuts I used are Little Debbie Brand and you get 6 packs of 4 doughnuts in each package.  These are the only ones that I have found that don't have any writing or dates on the package that will show on your skeleton.

After they are glued, you can bend the legs just a little at the joints and the doughnut packs will actually allow the skeleton to sit up.
Since these are going to be the first place awards, I needed a little certificate to go with them as well.  So, I made a computer generated award and then cut a small skeleton to match this guy and put him on there to finish it up.

Now, for the first giveaway, I have one of the placemat pouches that I showed a few weeks ago full of goodies.  Included in the bag is: misc. ribbon, 2 jumbo paperclips, 5 wooden shapes, 2 stamps, chipboard Boo book, witch hat stickers and a Halloween Hair Bow that was made by my sister.  All you have to do to enter is 1)Be a Follower and 2)Leave a Comment on this post with a way to contact you like email, blog, etc.   All comments through Oct. 3rd will be entered and I will use random org to select a winner.  The winner will be announced on Oct. 4th.  Here is a picture of what you can win.

I am linking these up on 10/4 to the Craft-O-Maniac's Monday Link Party.  Be sure to visit her blog here: http://craftomaniac.blogspot.com/
